Olympus Cove Utah Real Estate Market & Area Guide

If towering mountains and awe-inspiring views are for you, check out Olympus Cove in Millcreek, Utah.

Located at the base of Utah’s Mount Olympus, this exclusive community is known for its lush homes, mature trees, and (again) the views. It is minutes from downtown Salt Lake and the state’s world-famous ski resorts. This little neighborhood is central to just about everything! The northwestern slopes of the Wasatch Mountain range feature trails and outdoor amenities for hikers, bikers, and anyone who loves to explore all four of Utah’s brilliant seasons.

Many homes here were built mid-century (1950s and 1960s) and have been beautifully upgraded. Other homes are new, but meet the high standards of real estate established here. The yards are positively lush with mature vegetation.

Residents enjoy a high standard of living and cherish their natural surroundings.

HISTORY

Millcreek is one of Utah’s newest incorporated cities. The incorporation is new, the community is not! In fact, in 1848 the first settlers arrived. Among them were Mary Fielding Smith and her children. Mary was the widow of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints founder Joseph Smith. To look at Millcreek today, it’s hard to imagine a rural setting, yet that’s what it was until after World War II. When the war ended, suburban growth populated the community beyond the Salt Lake City limits. Salt Lake didn’t annex the area and it was unincorporated for years.

The city was known by many names including East Mill Creek, Canyon Rim, and Mount Olympus. By the 1980s, it was bursting at the seams. While many cities surrounding it incorporated, Millcreek was a holdout until residents voted for incorporation on Nov. 3, 2015. Three years prior, the residents voted against incorporation.
